Electric Swimming Pool Covers
Introduction
A swimming pool covers are an essential addition to any pool; in winter and summer, you'll want to keep the elements and the debris (along with people and wildlife) out of the water, keeping it clean for you and your family.
Swimming pool covers are often heavy - especially those designed with safety in mind - and to ease the process of ravelling and unravelling the large cover, many people opt for an electric swimming pool covers. These electric covers are substantially the same as other swimming pool covers, but when you want to drag them off - or put them over - the pool it's as simple as pressing a button. The electric motors do all the work.
Who would want to use electric swimming pool covers?
Electric swimming pool covers are often popular in public pools where the cover must go on every evening, and come off every night - employing an electric pool cover assists this tedious and difficult process. But that doesn't mean that electric swimming pool covers are not for home use, too. Many people find that deploying or retracting the cover is too much for them on their own, and an electric swimming pool cover would be a godsend.
Unlike with standard manual covers, neither strength nor dexterity is required to use electric swimming pool covers. This makes them ideal for elderly or disabled people, especially those that require frequent dips into the pool for therapeutic reasons.
How does it work?
Electric swimming pool covers work using a motorised pole the turns slowly, reeling the cover either in or out, depending on the button pressed. The electric pole is supplied in a way that it will fit a range of pool widths and lengths (and is easily adjusted by the purchaser) so standard electric swimming pool covers operate a easy 'one size fits all' approach. This increases the choice available for those seeking to buy one.
The covers can often be retro-fitted to existing installations, or integrated into new ones. The aesthetics will often be more pleasing if electric swimming pool covers are integrated, but a retro-fit version may be your only choice.
This action means that electric swimming pool covers are often referred to as "automatic pool covers", since they automatically deploy and retract. The two terms can often be used interchangeably.
Choices, choices...
There is no good technical reason why electric swimming pool covers need to be a family apart from other pool cover types. Manufacturers offer special safety covers, slatted covers, Venetian covers, heated covers and solar covers, all hooked up to the motorised rail.
One thing to note is that electric pool covers require a flat, straight surface on which to lay out the rails. Without these the installation could be very expensive and may require specially manufactured rails, motors or covers. While this should not be a problem for most pool owners, it is an unfortunate bar to those with more elaborate pools.
